Touring Suggestions by Area

Welsh Castles.
Visit Caernarvon, Conwy and Beaumaris Castles in North Wales.  They were built by Edward I in the 1200's and are fine examples of mighty medieval fortresses, bristling with opportunities for the defenders to beat off any marauders.

Cheshire Heritage
The Cheshire countryside is renowned for its tranquillity and beauty. Little Moreton Hall, Congleton is the best and most striking of half timbered, black and white manor houses in the area, famous for its Long Gallery with its extremely uneven roof and floor. A truly remarkable building, carefully restored by the National Trust. Close by is Beeston Castle, dramatically situated on a sandstone crag, the ruined castle is open to visitors and provides a magnificent view of the Cheshire Plain.

Chester
This most attractive County town of Cheshire was founded by the Romans about AD48 and is famous for its well preserved city walls, now used as footways through the city.  It also possesses a magnificent 11th century Cathedral and the medieval half timbered 'Rows' - the double rows of shops, unique galleried arcades, one on top of the other, in the centre of town. Chester is an alluring city and an unrivalled shopping experience.

The Lake District
The Lake District is rightly famed as one of the most attractive areas in the British Isles. Visit the delightful Lakeside villages of Bowness, Ambleside, and Keswick with the stunning backdrop of the Lake District mountains.  It is easy to get away from it all along the dramatic Hard Knott Pass and Wrynose Pass. The remains of the Roman Fort of Mediobogdum can be visited, on a shelf of rock overlooking Eskdale, where lonely Roman soldiers spent their duty hours. There are also many literary sites to be visited in connection with William Wordsworth and Beatrice Potter.

The Peak District
The Peak District is England's most southerly highland country and contains Britain's first National Park. It contains wild moorland, crags and rocks, green fields criss-crossed with dry stone walls, rivers and lakes - all waiting to be explored. In addition, visitors can enjoy fine historic houses, such as the magnificent Chatsworth House - Chatsworth House is the 'Jewel in the Crown' of the Peak District. It is set in over 400 hectares of splendid parkland and is and houses one of the finest collections of furniture and fine arts in the world. The gardens contain an 88 metre fountain and a magnificent ornamental cascade.

James Herriot Tour - The Yorkshire Dales
The Yorkshire Dales has become world renowned because of the James Herriot series of books on the life of a country vet - and the later television serialisation. Many of the villages have been used as locations and 'Skelgate House' in Askrigg can be seen, close to the 'Drover's Arms'.  The scenery is stunning and many film locations can be visited.

Beatles Tour
The tour includes all the locations in Liverpool linked with the ever popular Beatles - from the hospitals where they were born, their homes, schools and first public appearances - to the site of the world famous Cavern club. Also the re-generated Albert Dock complex on the Mersey waterfront provides a unique insight into Liverpool life.

Lancashire Holiday Resorts
A trip to the Lancashire coast visiting the Victorian holiday resorts of Southport, with its magnificent heritage Lord Street; Lytham St Annes, the upmarket resort and Blackpool, which is unique in the world, being noisy, brash and very popular over the last 100 years.  Everyone must experience Blackpool at least once in their lives!

York
The city of York is a most attractive city and has a fascinating history with evidence of its Roman, Viking and medieval past.  It contains Northern Europe's finest cathedral - York Minster, a complete circle of city walls, an attractive river, world class museums, shops large and small and a wide selection of places to eat and drink.

Leeds
Leeds is the commercial capital of Yorkshire, European in outlook but unmistakably English in style, design and culture and unrivalled as a shopping destination with its vast range of stylish shops in elegant Victorian and Edwardian arcades.
